It is with deep regret and sadness we share the passing of Scientific & Regulatory Consultants, Inc. co-founder Sally Hayes on December 27, 2018. Sally enjoyed a successful 35 year career in the antimicrobial industry. While she began work as a teacher, she found a love for chemistry in the Quality Control and R&D labs at The Fuller Brush Company (Great Bend, Kansas). After 11 years, she relocated to Indiana to lead the Regulatory Affairs department for Huntington Laboratories, Inc. though she always missed her beloved Kansas and K-State Wildcats. In this role, she was integral to the success of the company managing EPA, FDA, USDA, and state registrations and the needs of hundreds of supplemental registrants and private labelers. When the firm sold to Ecolab, Inc., Sally and Rhonda Jones started Scientific & Regulatory Consultants, Inc. in 1996 to guide companies through the complex system of testing, labeling, and regulation of antimicrobial products. Sally was a wonderful mentor, friend, role model, and trusted business partner. Her brilliant, creative, and tenacious regulatory skills helped her to form lasting relationships with regulators, laboratories, trade associations, and clients which was critical to the success of SRC. She was a member of numerous industry groups including chairing the CSPA Antimicrobial Division Regulatory Committee and moderating the EPA Antimicrobial Workshop for many years. Through SRC, Sally supported many local community organizations and established The SRC Scholarship Endowment to help local students realize their dreams of a science education. In addition to her work, Sally loved her family, her dogs, gardening, baking and K-State. We will cherish the years we spent together preparing submissions, crafting positions, revising standards, and shepherding products to market. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones.
